Convey Law Celebrates Success at British Chamber Business Awards
A Welsh business has won a prestigious national title at the British Chamber Business Awards 2016 for its commitment to employee development.
Newport-based specialist legal conveyancing company, Convey Law, was crowned the national winner of the ‘Commitment to People Development’ category at the awards ceremony in London, on November 24.
Convey Law is the first member from the South Wales Chamber of Commerce to win a national award in four years.
The company was put forward for the national event after winning the regional ‘Commitment to Skills and People Development’ heats at the Welsh Business Awards 2015. The company was also named ‘Welsh Business of the Year’ at the same event.
With success at the British Chamber Business Awards, Convey Law has now been recognised as one of the UK’s leading employers.
Convey Law employs 85 members of staff in Wales and over the past three years, the business has earned record profits, with the £5 million turnover achieved in 2015 attributed to the company’s focus on team development.
Judges at the British Chamber of Commerce Awards were impressed by Convey Law’s innovative approach to business and dedication to staff training, with progression opportunities for employees, such as paralegals, to become fully-qualified, licensed conveyancers.
Francis Martin, President of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said:
“Convey Law is a great example of recognising the importance of investing in staff. Well-trained workers play a crucial role in achieving business growth. This award acknowledges their commitment to staff development and is well deserved.”
Convey Law has led the way in training and development for the conveyancing industry; founding the Conveyancing Academy on behalf of the Conveyancing Association, which is made up of the top 100 conveyancing lawyers in the country, to facilitate their recruitment and training needs.
The company developed The Conveyancing Academy Paralegal Course as part of the induction process for administrative and paralegal employees, allowing staff to be trained quickly, thoroughly and cost-effectively.
The Conveyancing Academy is a division of Convey Law’s sister company, Convey365 Ltd, and provides the first online training portal in the conveyancing industry.
The online training programme is designed to provide basic knowledge of the law and the procedures required to complete a straightforward conveyancing transaction
Delegates work through 14 modules and are assessed and graded on each area, and ultimately receive an overall grading and certificate of accreditation.
Convey Law has also developed the charitable arm of the entire conveyancing industry with the launch of the Conveyancing Foundation, inspired by Convey Law’s original fundraising idea, the Charity Lotto. The Charity Lotto has raised more than £400,000 for a variety of UK charities since it launched in 2011.
Lloyd Davies, Managing Director of Convey Law said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won at the British Chamber Business Awards. To be recognised at a national event for our commitment to employee development is a wonderful moment and highlights the effort we put into developing a rewarding career pathway for our employees.
“The culture at Convey Law has always been centred on providing every individual the opportunity to fulfil their potential, and our commercial success continues to support our approach.
“It is a true honour to have received this prestigious accolade, and our win shows that investment in people is crucial for business success.”
