In memory of our colleague and friend Max Davies, who tragically died by suicide at the age of 22, we have launched the 30 for Max campaign. Our goal is to raise £30,000 in 2025 to mark what would have been Max’s 30th birthday this December.

Supporting the Mindstep Foundation

One of our chosen charities for 2025 is the Mindstep Foundation, a cause that is deeply close to our hearts. The Foundation funds pioneering research at the University of Glasgow into suicide prevention and works to raise greater awareness of mental health, aiming to break the stigma around seeking help.

Through the 30 for Max campaign, we are committed to supporting this vital work and helping to prevent other families from experiencing the pain of losing a loved one to suicide.

Fundraising Efforts

This year, our team has taken on a series of inspiring challenges to raise both awareness and funds. From bake sales to skydiving and relay events, every effort is dedicated to honouring Max’s memory while supporting research that can save lives.

The Mindstep Relay

In March, we launched our fundraising with the Mindstep Relay, where participants pledged an hour of their time for an activity of their choice before passing on the virtual baton. From walking and running to reading and mystery tours, colleagues, friends, families, and even pets joined in.

Alongside the relay, we hosted a bake sale that brought people together while raising funds and awareness. Combined with entries into the Conveyancing Foundation Charity Lotto, these activities raised an incredible £8,639.75 towards our £30,000 goal.

Alex Harris Leads with Courage

On Thursday 6 March, Alex Harris shaved his head in support of the Mindstep Foundation. Surrounded by colleagues, the event became a powerful moment of solidarity, raising both awareness and funds while highlighting the importance of supporting one another.

Alex then went on to take part in our first skydive challenge, showing further dedication to the cause.

Taking the Leap: Convey Law Skydives

Although postponed due to high winds, our first skydive went ahead on 4th May at Swansea Airport. Alex Harris was joined by Scott Barnard, Natalie Churcher, Imogen Moss, Jack Grout, Laura Burkinshaw, Kristian Evans, and Abby Bater, all of whom completed the challenge in support of suicide prevention.

Another group of colleagues – Nicola Lancaster, Lauren Campbell, Isabelle Isaac, Kat Axford, and Emily Butterworth – will take to the skies on Saturday 6 September.

Our skydive efforts have already raised over £10,000.

About the Mindstep Foundation

The Mindstep Foundation was established in memory of Max Davies. The Foundation funds postgraduate research at the University of Glasgow into the causes of suicide and potential interventions for those at risk.

By funding vital research, raising awareness of the warning signs, and challenging the stigma attached to mental health, the Foundation is working to create a future where fewer lives are lost to suicide.
